Shortland Street Dr weds
The actress daughter of the Le Bruns, a Marlborough wine family, wed her partner of seven years in the gardens at Timara Lodge, near Blenheim, this month.
Virginie Le Brun, 32, and Gareth Daley, 34, exchanged their vows before 130 of their closest friends and family, as reported in this week's edition of Woman's Day magazine.
In an exclusive interview with the magazine, the former Shortland Street actress, who played the character Gabrielle Jacobs, said that returning to marry in the grounds where she had spent much of her childhood creating happy memories was a logical decision.
Father and champagne winemaker Daniel Le Brun, a pioneer of methode traditionelle in New Zealand, gave his daughter away.
He moved to Marlborough from France 33 years ago with wife Adele and his 4-month-old daughter to establish the wine label in his name before selling the company and establishing No 1 Family Estate.
According to the magazine, a few personal touches made for an original wedding, including a special cuvee made especially by Mr Le Brun to mark the moment the couple became Mr and Mrs Le Brun-Daley, the bride and groom cutting the wedding cake with a sabre in acknowledgment of Mrs Le Brun-Daley's hobby, and the Le Brun family dog Polly as a member of the bridal party, covered in a garland of roses.
The couple met seven years ago on the set of TV2 children's show What Now.
Many of their guests had travelled from as far away as France and England and included New Zealand celebrities such as former Shortland Street co-stars, Juice TV boss Dan Wrightson and TrueBliss performer Erika Takacs.
