The Marlborough Express is looking to move into an office in the centre of Blenheim, but first has to secure a sale for its Arthur St site.

Express general manager Vanessa Watson said the building where the newspaper has been based for 46 years is for sale. The newspaper was looking to move to a more high-profile site in a central location, she said.

"We are all looking forward to shifting to a more central and modern office site.

"An ideal alternative site for the Express staff has been identified, but we are unable to formalise that announcement until a sale of Arthur St has been secured."

The Express printing operations moved from High St to Arthur St in 1966 and the building was expanded as the business grew. The full Express staff re-located to Arthur St in 1982.

Forty-seven editorial, advertising and administration staff and 36 delivery and dispatch staff work to produce and deliver the paper from the Blenheim site.

The business also runs the marlexpress.co.nz website and the Kaikoura Star, Marlborough Midweek, Property Express and Saturday Express weekly publications plus Experience Kaikoura and Discover Top of the South
