A 17-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday after biting a police officer and breaking the skin on his arm, say police.

The teenager was found inside the Blues, Brews and BBQs festival at the A&P Showgrounds in Blenheim by security staff after already being refused entry twice, said Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim.

Police became involved when the teenager refused to leave.

As she was being escorted out of the festival by police about 2.30pm, she bit the officer on his upper arm, breaking the skin and causing extensive bruising.

She was charged with assaulting a police officer and is to appear in Blenheim District Court on Monday.

Police arrested 13 more people on the weekend.

A 23-year-old vineyard worker was arrested at 2am on Sunday after yelling abuse at a passing police patrol car in Market St. He was held in custody until sober and released with a pre-charge warning.

A 27-year-old man was arrested for disorderly behaviour after an incident with a group of men.

He was arrested at 12.45am on Sunday after failing to leave the area and acting aggressively.

He was held in custody until sober and was released with a pre-charge warning.

A 17-year-old man was arrested at 1.05am on Sunday for fighting in Karina Cres, Redwoodtown. He was held in custody until sober and released with a pre-charge warning.

A 44-year-old man was arrested at 12.10am on Sunday for breaching the liquor ban in Queen St.

He was held in custody until sober and released with a pre-charge warning.

A 37-year-old man and a 52-year-old man were arrested for disorderly behaviour early Saturday morning in Havelock St, Renwick.

Both men were arrested just after midnight and were given a pre-charge warning.

Police arrested another four people on Saturday.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at 2.45am outside the Loft bar in Kinross St for disorderly behaviour.

He was held in custody and was released with a pre-charge warning.

A 22-year-old unemployed woman was also arrested at 2.45am for disorderly behaviour outside the Loft bar. The woman had been in a fight and was extremely drunk, Mr Holdaway said. She was held in custody until sober and was given a pre-charge warning.

A 26-year-old French man was arrested at 4.10pm after a $2 ice block was stolen from the Showgrounds Store in Maxwell Rd.

The vineyard worker, who is on a working holiday, was to appear in Blenheim District Court yesterday.

A 27-year-old logging contractor was arrested on a fines warrant at 8.10pm. He is to appear in Blenheim District Court on Thursday.

A 50-year-old woman was arrested on Friday after an incident in Alfred St. The sickness beneficiary was arrested at 12.40pm and was trespassed from Summit Reality. She was held in custody until sober and given a pre-charge warning.

Police arrested two more people on Friday.

The drainlayer was arrested at 3.10pm and appeared in Blenheim District Court on Saturday.
