The 4-year-old boy who was in a head-on crash near Havelock on January 24 is in Starship children's hospital in Auckland in a stable condition.
The boy and his 29-year-old mother were airlifted to Nelson Hospital after the crash, both in a serious condition.
The boy was transferred to Christchurch, and then moved to Starship children's hospital.
The woman was admitted to the intensive care unit at Nelson Hospital but had since been discharged.
A Starship hospital spokeswoman said yesterday that the boy remained in a stable condition.
