A 9-year-old girl was taken to hospital after being knocked off her bike in Blenheim on Monday afternoon.
Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said police were called to Old Renwick Rd about 3.50pm after the girl had cut in front of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was unable to avoid the bike and clipped the rear wheel, he said.
St John team manager Pete Davidson said the girl had minor injuries and was taken to Wairau Hospital.
She had a cut to her lower right leg and grazes to her hands, feet and face.
A hospital spokeswoman said the girl was treated and discharged. Police are reminding drivers to take extreme caution on the roads, especially around young people on bikes as students are now back at school.
