Blenheim man Richard James Hayden, 44, facing charges in Christchurch, has been remanded without plea to reappear in court next Monday.

Hayden, unemployed, has entered no plea to charges of assaulting a police officer with intent to injure, assaulting an officer with intent to obstruct them in the execution of their duty, disorderly behaviour, and breach of a public liquor ban.

The charges arise from an incident in Blenheim shortly before Christmas.

Hayden initially appeared at the Blenheim District Court and was remanded in custody to Christchurch to make a bail application. He was eventually bailed to an address in Christchurch with a condition to stay away from Blenheim.

He appeared on Friday at the Nga Hau e Wha Marae in Aranui and was remanded so his lawyer could consider the disclosure documents.
