A Blenheim man has described his actions as stupid after trying to take cannabis through airport security.
Timothy William Deverell Whelan told the Blenheim District Court through his lawyer this week that he had been stupid to take the cannabis and a pipe in his bags as he tried to board a domestic flight at Auckland Airport on December 9.
In court on Monday, Whelan, 44, of Blenheim, admitted possession of cannabis and drug utensils and was fined $650.
Judge Richard Russell told Whelan his actions were "not very sensible" when it was almost certain he would be caught.
