The final stages of the new Rebel Sport site in Blenheim are under way with the demolition of the building that formerly housed the Lifetime Mortgage team.
The building will make way for 25 car parks, providing a total of 35 off-street car parks for Briscoes and Rebel Sport customers.
A spokesman for Blenheim construction firm Crafar Crouch said most of the demolition work had been done at night.
"Due to the location and proximity to [the] Blenheim CBD, we are staging the work outside of office hours to minimise disruption to shop owners and the public," the spokesman said.
The Main St building was made of steel portals with brick infill.
The demolition work would be completed on Saturday night.
A tree next to the building would also be removed. Crafar Crouch would begin to level the area next week and the car park should be completed by the end of the month, he said.
Lifetime Mortgage staff have moved to the first-floor offices of the new Rebel Sport building.
