A Richmond couple have taken over a Nelson sporting goods franchise formerly owned by Blenheim-based Adventure Sports.
Stirling Sports on Trafalgar St in Nelson reopened on Saturday.
Adventure Sports, the company which owned the Nelson and Blenheim franchises of the sports chain, went into liquidation in December owing $1 million.
Now the Nelson site has been taken over by husband and wife Dave and Sandy Heyward, who have operated the Richmond Stirling Sports franchise for the last four years.
Mrs Heyward said they had not planned to open another franchise, but when the Nelson store went into liquidation they saw an opportunity. The store will be run by manager Mike Smithers.
