Another Marlborough firefighter has joined the New Zealand fire-fighting crews helping battle wildfires in Australia.
Marlborough principal rural fire officer Richard McNamara said rural firefighter Trevor Tidey has joined a group of 45 New Zealand firefighters in Melbourne today, preparing to fight a wild fire in the Grampian National Park west of Melbourne.
A five-strong Marlborough rural fire crew led by officer Chris Hayles were part of a New Zealand crew fighting a fire near Mt Hotham in eastern Victoria along with Department of Conservation rural fire officer Jim Herdman.
About 90 New Zealand firefighters were involved in the two deployments to Australia, Mr McNamara said. Fairfax NZ
