Clara looking forward to show
All the excitement and energy of touring around the country alongside some of New Zealand's best-known musos has taken its toll on Clara van Wel, but the bubbly 15-year-old songstress is looking forward to a hometown performance in Blenheim this weekend.
As special guest for this year's Classic Hits Winery Tour line-up, featuring Fat Freddy's Drop, Anika Boh & Hollie and The Adults, Clara is excited to be opening the gig to a home crowd.
Performing in front of so many people she knew in the place she launched her singing career was both comforting and exciting, she said.
"I'm looking forward to that one the most - and I'm not just saying that."
Clara returned home yesterday for a short break and to catch up on school work ahead of two performances in Nelson later this week.
Having completed 11 of the 17 winery tour gigs, Clara found that each of her performances seemed to be better than the last.
"If we had a video of the first one and a video of the last one, I think there would be a huge difference - well, I'm hoping there's a difference."
Highlights of the tour so far had included meeting and performing with other band members and getting their insight about the music industry.
The tour had been a great way to see the country and experience some of the attractions such as paragliding in Queenstown, she said.
Despite being a little tired from all the travelling and performing, Clara was looking forward to the release of her first album single, Beautiful, which comes out on March 1.
The Classic Hits Winery Tour 2013 comes to Villa Maria Estate in Blenheim this Sunday.
Tickets $75; gate sales $85. Gates open at 5pm and the concert ends at 10pm.
