Former Marlborough resident and managing director of Christchurch modelling agency Spotlight Model Agency, Denyse Saunders, is holding a model camp for children and teenagers in Blenheim during the April school holidays.
Denyse, who will tutor the courses, says the camp will be about grooming and confidence.
"These very popular courses are designed to build children's and teenager's self-confidence by learning about personal presentation, but will also provide them with the opportunity to give TV, catwalk and photographic modelling a go," says Denyse, who has seen many of her charges go on to national and international success.
Spotlight Model Agency is the largest agency in Australasia, representing more than 4000 models, actors and talent.
"The students will learn about modelling in a fun, non-competitive environment and walk away with not only the knowledge to enter the modelling industry but also gain grooming, confidence and etiquette to assist them in their everyday life," she says.
The programme finishes with a fashion parade attended by friends and family of the students and the students receive a modelling diploma.
While the camp doesn't guarantee success in the modelling industry, Denyse says she can assist students who have the ability to go further.
Her last event in Blenheim was the Alzheimer's Marlborough fashion show in October last year, which she ran as well as grooming the models and co-ordinating the event.
It was a huge success, with another planned for October this year.
