A man was arrested on Friday after threatening to shoot staff at a Marlborough winery, say police.

Constable Nigel Bay, of Blenheim, said the man was camping near Forrest Wines on Conders Bend Rd near Renwick. He was upset about dust drifting across his camp site after staff drove on a nearby track, Mr Bay said.

Police responded with caution as it was not known if the man had a gun.

He was arrested and charged with threatening language after it was established he had no gun, Mr Bay said.
