Builders find plenty to laugh about
About 40 building industry professionals let their hair down, threw their self-consciousness to the wind and generally had a great time in a Laughter Yoga class at the weekend.
Run by Paraparaumu Laughter Yoga teacher Lynda Andrews, it called on participants to perform unusual dances, exhale love and peace into the world, learn relaxing breathing exercises and do plenty of laughing. "I enjoyed it immensely," said Carters national key account manager, Tony Longhurst, of Tauranga.
"It's important to be able to laugh at ourselves and our partners."
He was among delegates from throughout New Zealand attending the Certified Builders Association of New Zealand Conference at the Marlborough Convention Centre on Friday and Saturday. The usual yoga class formed part of the health and safety stream of presentations.
"It is certainly a unique part of the conference but by the look of all the smiles in the room everyone had a good time," Mr Longhurst said. During the hour-long session, Ms Andrews had the participants clapping, throwing their hands in the air and working up a bit of a sweat, before relaxing with breathing exercises.
