Cow in paddock killed by truck
A cow has been killed by a truck that lost control and ploughed into a paddock in one of three road accidents in Marlborough on Tuesday.
A truck and trailer unit left the road on State Highway 6, near the intersection of Long Valley Rd, about noon, police said.
The truck went through a section of fencing and hit a cow, killing it.
Earlier in the day, a man driving a Mitsubishi Pajero failed to give way at a Blenheim intersection and collided with a Suzuki Swift.
Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said the driver of the Mitsubishi Pajero fled the scene before police arrived.
The crash happened about 7.40am at the intersection of Hutcheson and Nelson streets, he said. No one was injured in the accident and police are looking for the driver of the Pajero.
Police attended another crash about 11pm on Tuesday, at Neal Rd near the intersection of Isobel Place. The driver of a Commodore lost control of the car and drove through a fence into a vineyard.
