The sun didn't quite make it out from behind the mist for the annual Kaikoura Seafest on Saturday, but the crowds certainly put on a colourful performance.
The creativity of festival-goers varied. Cowboy hats and fairies were a common sight among the crowds while a man dressed as a scantily-clad Miley Cyrus had some viewers cringing.
Stallholders provided food and beverages ranging from paua patties and kina shots to venison sandwiches and waffles.
Back for a second year, New Zealand Masterchef finalist Jax Hamilton gave three cooking demonstrations in a packed-out tent, while clowns Carrot and Pickles kept the younger folk entertained.
The music was another hit again this year, with live performances by Double Talk, Midge Marsden, Steve McDonald and The Bubblemen.
Organisers were thrilled with the "hugely successful" day, while police were on the whole happy with the behaviour of the 6000-strong crowd.
