Police get in before harvest
Police have discovered nine cannabis plants on the outskirts of Blenheim.
The plants were found during the first phase of an annual Marlborough police operation targeting cannabis crops.
A police spokeswoman said the operation was at the information-gathering stage. The recovery stage would begin next year when mature plants were pulled out and destroyed.
Police asked people to be aware of plots and report suspicious behaviour.
Sometimes police come across plants during the course of their daily work, she said.
Nelson police were finding an indoor grow room per week at the moment, she said.
