A 24-year-old man who was clocked riding a motorcycle at 160kmh without a helmet is to appear in Blenheim District Court next month.

A police spokeswoman said the man had been charged with reckless driving causing injury, driving while disqualified and driving with excess blood alcohol.

His blood alcohol level was not available.

The man was also given infringement notices for driving an unlicensed motor vehicle, for having no warrant of fitness and for not wearing a helmet.

He is due to appear in court on January 27.
