Blenheim swung into full Christmas mode during the weekend with the annual Christmas Parade and Cracker Christmas Festival.

Those looking to do some shopping were spoiled for choice at the Blenheim Lions Mistletoe Market in the centre of town in the morning.

Then, at 3pm the much anticipated Christmas Parade wound its way through town, much to the delight of the hundreds of people who lined the streets to watch.

Chris and Wendy Barnard and their children Kevin, 4, and Dillon, 10, are new to Marlborough and said they loved their first Christmas parade.

"It was very impressive and was well organised; we really enjoyed it. It gets you in a good Christmas spirit," Mrs Barnard said.

The 31 floats were a huge hit with their children, who especially loved Renwick Preschool's Thomas the Tank Engine float and the Jaycar float.

Live music after the parade kept the festivities going, with performers Avi Diva and this year's Marlborough's Top Talent winner Emma Logan taking the stage.

Marlborough 4 Fun chief executive Katrina Lange said the day had gone extremely well.

"Everything has run smoothly. The floats were very good and it seemed like quite a bit more effort went into them [this year]."
