Taine Henderson Deacon throws a sponge in the huge water fight at the end of the Blenheim Water Skirmish on the banks of the Taylor River on Friday afternoon.

Hosted by the Marlborough Youth Trust this was their fourth and final event for the year.

Some 150 youngsters turned out for the free event that featured kayaking down the river, water walking, slides and a visit by Santa.

Event organiser Paul Humphreys said that he was very happy with how the afternoon went.

"We had perfect weather - they all just had a great time. It was a really good event," he said.
