Renee Mavis Roberts, 21, pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary and one charge of assault when she appeared in the Blenheim District Court yesterday.

The court heard that the Witherlea woman entered her victim's house on November 22, because she was angry about some negative comments the victim had posted on Facebook. The two had known each other for about seven years and were arguing about childcare arrangements.

Roberts found her victim hanging out the washing. She grabbed her by the throat and punched her in the face, before grabbing her by the hair.

The victim retaliated and the pair had to be broken up by two EQC assessors who were present at the time of the assault.

The victim suffered swelling and bruising but did not require medical treatment.

Judge Thomas remanded Roberts until February 3 for restorative justice to take place.
