The Marlborough Artisan Market will go ahead on Thursday evening to coincide with late night shopping.
Wynen St will be closed to traffic between Market St and First Lane from 3.30pm.
Stalls will be set up by 5.30pm and will stay open till at least 7.30pm to coincide with late-night shopping in town.
Marlborough Artisan Market organiser Peter Jameson said the market could stay open as late as 9pm if it was busy.
The market was set to run last week at Market Place to coincide with late-night shopping but was cancelled at the last minute.
"I spoke to all the stores at Market Place, but hearing it would upset some shop owners I decided to move it," Mr Jameson said.
He decided last Tuesday to make other arrangements for the market but could not organise an alternative location in time.
Dolce Bar and Restaurant owner Sue-Ann McElhinney said she was glad to hear about the evening market but was relieved last week was cancelled. "Until today I have heard nothing about it and would have been terribly understaffed had it happened last week."
She said the night market was a great idea and would be good for businesses.
