A Blenheim family is gutted their Christmas garden display won't be complete this year after thieves made off with some of their decorations.
Brian Selwyn, of Endeavour St, said he had decided to take down other large items for fear of them being stolen too.
"Every year we have many buses from Blenheim rest homes that come past to see the lights and unfortunately it won't be the same this year," he said.
The thieves stole two large inflatable displays from their cordoned off garden on Wednesday.
One was a large Santa Claus that went up and down a chimney, the other an inflated carousel with horses going around, Mr Selwyn said.
He was surprised that the thieves did not wake his daughter while stealing the displays from outside her window. "It wouldn't have been easy getting the displays free because they were hammered down with really thick metal pegs to hold them down in the Marlborough winds," he said.
The carousel was sent over from the United Kingdom and would be instantly recognisable if the thieves decided to put it up.
The family had decorated their home for 15 years, he said.
"My daughter Lisa puts so much hard work into decorating the garden and to think someone would come and steal it is heartbreaking."
The family would love their decorationsto be returned and would appreciate any information if anyone sees their carousel.
"We will still leave all the lights up like we do every year, so we would still love the public to drive by and enjoy it with us at night," Mr Selwyn said.
