Police arrested two people in Marlborough on Christmas Day for disorderly behaviour.

Police were called to a family dispute in Picton in the early hours of Christmas morning.

A 50-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer and was released later in the day.

In Blenheim at 2.30pm, a 16-year-old was arrested for disorderly behaviour after setting fire to a cabbage tree outside the Bank of New Zealand.

He was released without charge and will be referred to Youth Aid.
