Teen tracked by police

A 17-year-old was tracked by a police dog unit after a group of teenagers were seen on a roof at a Blenheim school on Friday night.

Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said the teen was arrested at 9.30pm after he was chased by police from Redwoodtown School on Cleghorn St.

The teen broke plastic roofing as he was running along the veranda roof, Mr Holdaway said, and he was later charged with wilful damage.

It is not known whether the teen was injured.

He is to appear in the Blenheim District Court on January 27.
