Stocked and ready: Dietmar Schnarre and his team at Dodson Street Beer Garden are gearing up for the Summer Beer Fest on February 1

A new Blenheim beer festival is less than a month away and organisers are excited.

The new Summer Beer Fest may have the same name as its previous incarnation, but organiser Dietmar Schnarre says the 2014 version will be more exclusive.

Unlike the original festival, the beer fest will be held at the Dodson Street Beer Garden and numbers will be limited to 300. Those wanting to attend on February 1 will have to buy a $50 ticket.

The ticket price includes a free glass of wine or pint of beer on arrival, finger food, a buffet and entertainment.

"We will have 10 breweries that are equally unique and an opportunity for them to talk to the public about their beers," Mr Schnarre said.

"The breweries won't be the same every year."

Mr Schnarre wanted to create a club atmosphere with good live music, he said.

"We will be serving our well known finger food and at the request of the brewers a pig on a spit with rolls and Mexican food as well."

There will also be light jazz from Mr Music Trio, while blues band The Shop and Marlborough band Zeal will also take the stage.

"I hope to make this an annual event to celebrate the past year and thank our regulars," Mr Schnarre said.

Tickets are available at Dodson Street Beer Garden. Door sales will not be available.
