Nabbed for cannabis
An unemployed man and a sickness beneficiary have been arrested after police found cannabis at a house in Blenheim.
The 47-year-old and 44-year-old men were arrested at 11.30am on Tuesday after police used a search warrant at a house in Pitchill St, Mayfield.
Both men were charged with cultivating cannabis and possession of cannabis and cannabis seeds. They are to appear in the Blenheim District Court on Monday.
Hostel boss charged
The owner of a Blenheim backpackers was arrested for assaulting a woman tourist.
Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said the 55-year-old male business owner was arrested on Budge St at 5.20pm on Tuesday.
He was charged with intent to injure and is to appear in the Blenheim District Court on Monday.
Spate of arrests
Police arrested a 27-year-old vineyard worker for driving while suspended.
The vineyard worker was arrested in Seymour St, Blenheim, at 4.15pm on Tuesday, Mr Holdaway said.
He is to appear in court on January 21.
Two men were also arrested after two bottles of bourbon were stolen from a Blenheim liquor store.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old unemployed man and a 24-year-old vineyard worker were arrested at a house in Nosworthy St at 7.30pm on Tuesday.
Both men were intoxicated, Mr Holdaway said.
They were charged with theft and are to appear in the Blenheim District Court on Monday.
