Woman charged with theft

A 35-year-old unemployed woman tried to walk out of The Warehouse in Blenheim with an 81-centimetre TV, police say.

The woman was spotted leaving with the $500 TV in a trolley. She then abandoned the trolley and fled from the Kinross St store.

She was arrested in Blenheim on Wednesday, charged with trespassing and shoplifting and was held in custody before appearing in the Blenheim District Court yesterday.

Tania Catherine Jury was remanded in custody to reappear before a justice of the peace on Monday for the theft and trespass incident.

Police opposed bail and the Wakamarina woman did not make a bail application.
