A man riding a motorbike was taken to hospital after a collision with a car in Marlborough this morning.

The crash happened at the base of the Weld Pass about 7.10am.

Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said the motorcyclist was taken to Wairau Hospital, in Blenheim.

A condition update was not available this morning.

Both the motorbike and the car involved in the crash were towed from the scene.

Deputy chief fire officer Dion Partridge said the it appeared the man riding the road bike collided with the car at Pukapuka Stream.

Firefighters assisted ambulance staff until the man was taken to hospital, he said.
