Vineyard innovator Peter Yealands will share his ideas, learning and inventiveness at the Lincoln University Foundation's South Island Farmer of the Year winner's field day next month.
The Marlborough businessman won the title last year and will host the field day at Yealands Winery near Seddon on February 13.
Lincoln University Foundation chairman Ben Todhunter said the day's programme would have practical relevance for farmers and other producers across the primary industries.
"This field day is not just about wine making, it's about the clever thinking, entrepreneurship, business strategies and people management that have gone into this business.
"Participants will get an insight into how Yealands, during a period of only some five years, has become New Zealand's sixth largest wine exporter."
Mr Yealands has won many industry awards for his wines.
Mr Todhunter said Mr Yealands justifiably won the ‘farmer of the year' title for the way the family had looked at all aspects of their business, often finding better and more environmentally sustainable ways to run the operation. Fairfax NZ
