A celebration day for the entire community will be held at Waikawa Marae, Picton, to mark Waitangi Day on Thursday.
Marae committee member Bev Maata-Hart said proceedings would start at 10am with a traditional powhiri.
Anyone who had not previously visited the marae was invited to join other visitors so they could be officially welcomed on to the grounds, she said.
This would be followed by entertainment, including music, a weaving workshop and children's activities, Ms Maata-Hart said.
On the kai front there will be a Devonshire tea and mussel fritters, along with other barbecue food.
Last year the marae welcomed about 100 visitors on to the grounds on Waitangi Day and received great feedback from those attending.
Te Ra Whakakotahi, A Marae Experience is on from 10am to mid afternoon on Thursday at the marae, 210 Waikawa Rd. For more information, phone Bev Maata-Hart on 03 573 7284 or 027 725 1159.
