Police hot on trail
Thieves who made off with $30,000 worth of stolen property from a Blenheim home were busted by police hours later in Nelson.
A police spokeswoman said a person reported seeing a group of men acting suspiciously outside a house in Hutcheson St, Blenheim, on Monday afternoon.
The person recorded the registration number of the car they were driving and reported it to police.
A man living in the house arrived home soon afterwards and told police $30,000 worth of gear was missing, including a fog machine and a laser lighting machine.
Police traced the car registration and found it was linked to a spate of burglaries in the Nelson Bays area, the spokeswoman said.
Nelson police found the car later that day in Nelson with all of the missing gear inside.
A 30-year-old Nelson man and two men from Motueka, aged 32 and 20, were arrested in relation to the burglary, the spokeswoman said.
