Photo identifies burglars
Two men have been charged with burglary after a Blenheim supermarket and a petrol station were broken into earlier this week.
A 37-year-old and a 24-year-old, both vineyard workers, were arrested on Weld St about 5.30pm on Wednesday after a woman contacted police when she recognised one of the men from a photograph printed in the Express on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old man was charged with breaking into the petrol station while the 24-year-old was charged with breaking into both the petrol station and the supermarket.
Just after midnight on Monday, two men were caught on camera using a hammer to try to get into a cigarette cabinet at Z Energy Redwoodtown on Scott St.
The men clawed at the cabinet with the hammer but could not get it open. The next day, a man was caught on security camera footage breaking into the Countdown supermarket on Weld St, Blenheim, about 11.30pm.
The man smashed a window and headed to the wine section.
Both men are to appear in court on Monday.
