A 62-year-old Blenheim woman was flown to hospital after the van she was driving collided head-on with a truck on State Highway 6 between Blenheim and Nelson on Saturday.

The woman was driving down a hill on the Whangamoa Saddle heading towards Nelson when the crash happened about 3.40pm.

The truck was driving toward Blenheim.

Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter crewman Hamish Pirie said the woman was assessed at the scene and flown to Nelson Hospital with minor head injuries.

The driver of the truck was not injured, Mr Pirie said.
