All Cook Strait ferries were this morning cancelled following a storm which caused swells to reach up to 10 metres overnight.
Two Interislander Picton to Wellington sailings had this morning been cancelled, as had one from Wellington to Picton.
A Kiwirail spokeswoman said the company would be reassessing the situation this afternoon and hoped to resume sailings from later today, although this had not been confirmed.
Both 8am sailings on the Bluebridge had also been cancelled this morning, but their 1.30pm sailing from Wellington, and 2pm and 7pm sailings from Picton were still expected to depart, according to their website.
Passengers travelling with Bluebridge were asked to phone 0800 844 844 for assistance, while the Interislander could be contacted on 0800 802 802.
