Frances Mary White, 27, of Springlands, appeared on a charge of drink-driving in the Blenheim District Court on Monday.
White was stopped by police about 10pm on February 8, and underwent a breath-screening test, which showed she had a breath alcohol level of 1082mcg of alcohol per litre of breath.
Her lawyer, John Holdaway, said his client had been celebrating her birthday before she made the "bad decision" to drive home.
Judge Zohrab said the level was "spectacularly high".
"The number of people who have drunk that much, they wouldn't have been able to find the car, let alone drive it, that's how high that is," he said.
White was fined $1000 as well as court costs, and was disqualified from driving for nine months.
