A young woman remained in intensive care in Wellington Hospital yesterday after the car she was in ploughed through a Marlborough campground on Tuesday.

The crash happened about 12.20am at Rapaura Rd/State Highway 62 in front of the Spring Creek Holiday Park.

The woman was one of three 19-year-olds in the car. A hospital spokesman said yesterday she was in a stable condition.

The other two women were taken to Wairau Hospital in Blenheim with serious and moderate injuries.

A hospital spokeswoman said yesterday one woman was discharged and the other was in a stable condition.

The trio were trapped in a Mazda car, which had flipped onto its side and come to a stop lodged between trees and scrub.

They had been heading toward the SH1 intersection in the 70kmh zone when it appeared the driver lost control on a bend.
