A 43-year-old woman was assaulted by three women in Blenheim yesterday, police say.

Acting Sergeant Todd Nicholas, of Blenheim, said the woman was punched in the face and assaulted about 10.30am on the Elizabeth St footbridge, which links to Dillons Point Rd.

A group of about 10 women were present when the assault occurred, Mr Nicholas said.

The women knew each other and had been arguing about a historic matter, he said.

St John Blenheim station manager Rebecca Lee said the woman was treated at the scene for a minor facial injury.
