Police arrested a 22-year-old man after he allegedly crashed into a power pole in Blenheim and then ran away from police.
Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said the sickness beneficiary lost control of the car he was driving and crashed at Girling Ave about 3.15pm on Wednesday.
He ran away from the scene of the crash but police found him less than an hour later at a house in Karina Cres, Redwoodtown, Holdaway said.
The man was charged with driving while forbidden, dangerous driving, and sustained loss of traction. He is to appear in the Blenheim District Court on Monday.
Police also arrested an 18-year-old man after he arrived at the same Karina Cres house and began threatening people there, Holdaway said. The unemployed man was arrested at 4pm and charged with disorderly behaviour. He is also to appear in court on Monday.
Police arrested a 37-year-old chef for disorderly behaviour at 11.30pm on Wednesday. He was arrested on Grove Rd, Blenheim, and released with a pre-charge warning when sober.
