A total of 14 people were sentenced in the Kaikoura District Court on Friday on charges relating to Seafest weekend at the start of the month.

All pleaded guilty by letter to a range of charges from fighting and disorderly behaviour to breaches of the liquor ban, predominantly in West End.

All the defendants were male, aged between 18 and 33.

Only one was from Kaikoura. The remainder were from Christchurch, Cheviot, Ashburton and Marlborough.

Fines ranged from $200 to $300 and each was ordered to pay $130 court costs.
