A very successful antiques and collectibles fair attracted more than 280 people through the door on Monday, raising more than $1300 for the Kaikoura Seaward Lions town clock project.

A steady stream of visitors patronised the fair, keen to browse and purchase the varied collection of items, from comic books and toys to hand tools and fine chinaware.

There was something for everyone's taste at the packed hall, where about 15 collectors displayed their wares.

There was also a raffle and refreshments laid on by the Lions ladies, and expert valuations costing just $1 also proved popular with about 100 people bringing in various items from around their homes.

Both the Seaward Lions and the collectors expressed a keen interest in repeating the exercise, so if anyone out there has an item of interest for the valuer, or just wants to add to their existing collection, the group is sure to be back this way again.
