The Heart of the Country bus trip is planned again for next weekend and will be bringing some great country and western artists to town for a concert on Saturday November 7.

This great weekend of entertainment was started in 2006 and is now in its fourth year.

It originally started out as a train trip with a concert on Saturday night and a jam session on Sunday.

The group loves Kaikoura as a place to visit and last year they filled two carriages with people from Dunedin, and all the way up country to Christchurch, with singing and music on the train the whole way.

This year is the first year the group is travelling by bus, the idea being to keep costs down as some people are feeling the recession this year.

The concert will be held in the Memorial Hall and starts at 7pm.

The organisers are thrilled to have so many great artists taking part.

These include recorded artists such as Reg McTaggart, Maureen Thompson, Noel Driver (The Blind Stoned Cowboy), Pat Hannah, Tom Shelford, and many others including Slim Giles, Ronnie Cooper, John Mills, Bill Scott, Larry Spicher and more from all around the South Island.

Lynton Downs School arranges the supper as a fundraiser for the school, which is always well received.

On Sunday from 11am the group will hold a jam session in the beer garden at the New Commercial Hotel. This is where everyone can get up and have a go, including the artists.

A barbecue lunch is available as well as other menu meals.

The group welcomes everyone to come along and join in, or just come along and enjoy the entertainment.

Tickets for the concert are $20 and this includes supper.

They can be obtained from Ghecko Gearz in West End or from Trish Harris, 319 5758.
