St Pauls Presbyterian Church organ has delighted many over the years, providing at least two concerts each year and more when possible.

This year professional organist of 56 years Graham Hollobon, and accomplished soprano Helen Charlton will combine for a concert and the evening looks set to be a delightful event for anyone interested in fine classical music.

Charlton graduated from Canterbury University with a music degree majoring in performance singing, and has since been involved in opera, oratorio, chamber opera, music theatre and radio, as well as teaching and conducting.

She has recently been focusing on solo oratorio work in Nelson and Christchurch and recitals in Ashburton, Tauranga and Christchurch.

Hollobon has featured over the years as a church organist, recitalist, accompanist and teacher whose services have always been in high demand.

He too graduated from Canterbury University with a degree in science and music, and is also a graduate in music from Yale University.

Now retired, he is enjoying time as an assistant organist at various churches in his home town of Christchurch.

Hollobon and his wife, Kathleen, are also known for their unfortunate predicament which made the headlines when they had to demolish their leaky home in Avonhead at the start of the year.

The retired couple were forced to take the drastic action at their own cost when the statute of limitations ruled they could not claim financial recompense as the problem was a gradual one.

Now happily settled in their new abode, Hollobon is once more giving joy to others through his music.

If you would like to attend the concert, tickets are available at $15 for adults and $5 for students.

The concert will be held on Sunday, November 22 at 1.30pm. Tickets will be available on the door.
