Can't find a babysitter? Don't like hills? Afraid to run in the dark?
Fear no more, you can still start that fitness regime, because the new 5km run series has been designed with all that in mind.
With just seven weeks left until the Suburban School Whale Run, 5km series organisers Emma Fissenden and Judith Ford are hoping the weekly run (or walk) will provide the perfect training opportunities for anyone thinking about signing up.
The run begins at the village green, near the West End carpark, at 5pm every Tuesday, with the first run next week.
A 5km and 9km option are available, and the ladies say this will cater for developing abilities.
"We are hoping people will start with the 5km option and then build it up a bit each week," says Judith.
"It's a nice safe route with cycle lanes the whole way so kids can bike or run too."
That is the reason there will be no babysitter as in previous runs and Emma and Judith hope families will be encouraged to get out together and try and beat their time.
There will be the chance to record weekly times.
Plus there will be spot prizes and fruit which will be provided by Kaikoura Four Square.
Entry is by a gold coin donation.
