A public meeting on the White Paper for Vulnerable Children is to be held in Kaikoura this month.

The meeting, on Tuesday November 20, is a follow-on from the Green Paper meeting held at the Memorial Hall in February this year.

There will also be a guest speaker, champion of the Children's Action Plan Dr Cam Calder.

The White Paper was launched in Wellington on October 11 and is the culmination of more than 18 months of public consultation, debate, research and policy formation which started with the release of the Green Paper in July 2011.

Copies of the White Paper are available at childrens actionplan.govt.nz. There were close to 10,000 public submissions to the Green Paper and these fed into the White Paper.

"The meetings above are an opportunity for us to talk about the White Paper and the significant work we can do together as a community to better protect our children," Mr King said.

To attend the meeting an RSVP is required to 0800 265 466 or colin.king mp@parliament.govt.nz.
