Useful end to forest rubbish

Even if you don't quite understand how it works, CarbonScape's wood waste-to-soil additive project sounds like a good idea, writes The Marlborough Express in an editorial.
Take forest waste, put it in a big machine and give it a blast and voila!, charcoal which not only traps carbon but can be added to soil to improve the mix.
The technology now goes to Lincoln University for testing where the end product "biochar" will be assessed.
Hopefully it will be part of the answer to what to do with New Zealand's annual output of 13 million tonnes of radiata pine rubbish.
