Passengers on the cruise ship Pacific Princess, Barbara and Harry Criswell and Kathy Murphy, have plenty of praise for New Zealanders.
Picton was their third New Zealand port on a 107-day cruise around the world. The cruise started in Fort Lauderdale, United States, and ends in Rome.
Tennessee is home to the Criswells, while Ms Murphy (Mrs Criswell's sister) is from Florida.
All three loved the cruise life.
"We are enjoying every minute of it. We're about halfway through," Mrs Criswell said. "Being with different people, learning about the different cultures, it is always good."
"The people here are wonderful," Mr Criswell said.
They were all wearing flower buttonholes given to them when they came off the cruise ship as a welcome gift by the Picton Flower Ladies. "It is a lovely gesture, made us smile all the way into town," Mrs Criswell said.
Ms Murphy said she had enjoyed the craft market on the foreshore and they had all bought gifts there, and Mr Criswell was holding a Picton real estate brochure.
"We would love to come and live here. We just have to work out how to bring the rest of the family."
The next stop on the Pacific Princess cruise is Sydney.
