By design: The couple initially wanted a mud brick home, but instead used a large brick that was roughly rendered. "They literally used brushes to put the render over top,'' Kerry says. A two-bedroom accommodation wing to the west is entirely self-contained, with its own entrance, allowing the Burfoots to run a business without having guests through their living areas. Kerry says builder Dallas Mead was a fantastic part of the process, helping evolve ideas throughout the build. The master bedroom is upstairs, but the windows are in the roof line, ensuring the look of a single-storey home
