Saints men's softballers head to Nelson tomorrow, with plenty of confidence after a solid 6-2 win over Wairau White at A&P Park last night.
Kyle Marfell out-duelled fellow teenage pitcher Kurt Schollum and Jordan Roberts hit a key home run, sealing the the Saints' win.
Saints led 1-0 after the first inning, before a Dylan Hayes home run levelled the scores in the top of the second.
However, from then on, Wairau found themselves shut down by Marfell, unable to consistently string hits together.
Saints slowly pulled away, with Roberts providing the key hit, a home run that also scored a couple of other base runners.
Trailing 1-6 in the final inning, Kelvin Hewetson tripled and scored on a fielder's choice for Wairau, but that was the only run they could muster.
Marfell and catcher Roberts combined smoothly for Saints, while Roberts, Mike Godsall, who went four for four, and Warren Herd impressed at the plate.
Schollum pitched well for Wairau without much luck as the Saints dropped in some timely bloop hits.
