Marlborough has one finalist and one knocked out of the Trusts New Zealand Bowls Open at Auckland yesterday.
In yesterday's pairs play, current New Zealand rep Shayne Sincock along with his lead Lance Pascoe from West Coast, beat Joe Whitelaw and Tusi Tumua from Auckland comfortably and take on Kevin Robinson and Justin Goodwin in tomorrow morning's final.
Sincock, winner of last year's triples title at the same event, was pleased with his win and their current form, but said this morning he was expecting a tough final against Goodwin's pair.
Sincock switched allegiances from Canterbury to Marlborough this season and makes his Marlborough representative debut at Westport on Saturday in the Noble Adams Shield event. He said he was looking forward to that.
Meanwhile, Blenheim Workingmen's Club player Sanjhe Prasad and his club-mate Craig McDonnell, plus Auckland's John Gibson, bowed out in the second round of triples knockout play yesterday, beaten 7-17 by Danny O'Connor.
Earlier Prasad had easily beaten Gerard Slattery from Thames 25-6.
The triples will feature Onehunga's Danny Delany, Tom Delany and Chris Le Lievre up against Shannon McIlroy from Nelson, Jamie Hill and Brett Hassall.
